Fair Appreciation

My family is a 4th generation 4-H family.  This means that we are very involved with the fair during the summer.  Last summer my daughter Kristen was crowned the first Junior Miss Fair Queen.  They have had a Fair Queen for years, but last year added a new category for 10-15 year old girls.  Kristen was thrilled and couldn’t wait to try out.  She was even more thrilled to be chosen JM Fair Queen.  Between the three age levels there are a total of 3 Queens and 3 Princesses.  Thankfully all 6 girls get along well and have really enjoyed their time as fair royalty.  Tonight was the fair boards annual appreciation dinner for those that assist in some way with the fair.  Usually we are invited either through 4-H or the open class creative arts committee.  This year we also received a personal invitation since my daughter was the JM Queen.  The girls were thrilled to be reunited as they cover 3 different school districts plus one in college and three different levels of school.  It is always fun to get together with others that you don’t see on a regular basis.  This year it was also fun to watch my daughter being able to get together with her friends and catch up with what has been happening in their lives.

  1. Congratulations to your daughter! It is such a wonderful opportunity to be able to expand her circle beyond the people that she sees on a daily basis. I am still friends with students I met through multi-district events in high school.
